Former Acting US Attorney General Matt Whitaker: “Hunter Biden Should Be Prosecuted by DOJ If He Skips Subpoenaed Deposition” (VIDEO)

Former Acting AG Matt Whitaker argues Hunter Biden should be arrested if he blows off the congressional subpoena like the DOJ did to top Republicans.

Earlier on Tuesday Hunter Biden’s attorneys agreed to sit before Chairman James Comer’s House Oversight and Reform Committee, but only if it was in public.

This was after Hunter Biden was subpoenaed by the committee earlier this month.

Later today former acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker and FOX News legal expert Gregg Jarrett reminded the FOX News audience that Hunter and his attorney do not get to set the rules and guidelines for his subpoena.

Matt Whittaker went further and said if Hunter Biden does not sit for a subpoenaed deposition then he should be held in contempt of Congress like Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro were when they refused to sit for the sham January 6 Select Committee’s inquisition.

Steve Bannon was later sentenced to four months in prison and ordered to pay a $6,500 fine after being found guilty on two counts of contempt of Congress last month. Steve Bannon is currently appealing this ruling.

Peter Navarro was charged with two counts of contempt of Congress for failing to comply with the subpoena from the January 6 Select Committee.

Will criminal and drug addict Hunter Biden be next?

Former US Attorney General Matt Whitaker told Sean Hannity on Tuesday, “It’s going to be very interesting as I look at this whole thing. Chairman Comer mentioned Steve Bannon. And that reminds me of Peter Navarro, as well, who were held in contempt, who were prosecuted by the DOJ. And so this is a high stakes game where if they can’t come to some agreement and he doesn’t show up for that subpoenaed deposition then he should be held in contempt and prosecuted by DOJ like everybody else has been.”

Ukraine Retreats From Key Areas In Donetsk While Kiev Is Wracked With Growing Turmoil

The map above shows two key areas — Avdiivka (which is about the red dot titled “winter storm) and Kleshcheyevka (which is on the western outskirts of Bakhmut that sits just below the tag “Museum”) — that Ukraine has been clinging to tenaciously for more than 9 years. The news is not good for Ukraine. Its troops retreated from these areas today under heavy pressure from Russian forces. This should dispel the nonsense that there is some sort of stalemate. Nope. Russia is moving forward and Ukraine is falling back.

The following video provides dramatic footage of Russian soldiers attacking entrenched Ukrainians and rooting them out — i.e., killing, capturing and forcing a retreat.

In addition to the fighting on the frontlines, there are reports of escalating political intrigue, mayhem and attempted “murder” back in Kiev. We have been monitoring the power struggle between President Zelensky and General Zaluzhny, with rumors swirling that one or the other will be forced out before the end of the year. Today we have a confirmed report that someone poisoned the wife of Ukraine’s Intelligence Chief, Budanov.

The information about the poisoning spread by the Ukrainian media “corresponds to reality”, he said in response to an enquiry from the Ukrainian branch of Radio Liberty. The wife of the Ukrainian intelligence chief “is now undergoing treatment, which is being completed,” Yusov added, promising to release more information later. Later, the former head of Ukraine’s foreign intelligence service, Valeriy Kondratyuk, told Ukrainian Radio NV that Budanova’s poisoning was “caused by arsenic and mercury”.

The cast of suspects is reminiscent of the movie, The Usual Suspects.

Plenty of people and organizations with motives. A true “who done it.” Naturally, the Ukrainian media immediately accused the Russians of this dastardly deed, positing that it was revenge for Budanov’s role in assassinating Russians, which included a journalist and Daria Dugina. Alternatively, some point the finger at General Zaluzhy’s crew because Budanov is suspected of being behind the recent birthday grenade death of Zaluzhny’s Chief of Staff. Then there is the Russian Nesting Doll explanation — i.e., this was staged to implicate Zaluzhny in order to add fuel to the movement to oust him. If you are watching from afar this is great entertainment, unless you’re Joe Biden or the members of NATO. If you are part of the Ukrainian hierarchy this is more than worrisome. Nothing distracts from the business of fighting a war like sowing fear and paranoia among the political and military leaders.

One Student Fatally Stabbed, Another Injured in Deadly Mass Brawl at North Carolina High School (VIDEO)

Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School is reeling from a violent encounter that took place on its campus Monday, resulting in one student’s death and another hospitalized with injuries.

The chaos unfolded at about 11 a.m. on Monday when a fight escalated to a deadly stabbing in the school’s gymnasium, News 13 reported.

The Raleigh Police Department, led by Chief Estella Patterson, swiftly responded to the scene after a school resource officer urgently called for EMS support due to a student being stabbed.

Upon arrival, authorities found two victims of the stabbing. Both were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital. Tragically, the 16-year-old victim succumbed to their injuries, while the second victim, a 15-year-old student, is currently receiving care for non-life-threatening wounds.

Chief Patterson indicated that the stabbing was the result of a large altercation, though the specifics of what led to the fight remain unclear.

The school immediately enacted a Code Red Lockdown, barring entry and exit to ensure the safety of all students and staff. The lockdown was a precautionary measure while police worked to secure the scene and apprehend the suspect.

In response to the crisis, school officials have declared that Tuesday classes will be canceled in the wake of the incident.

“Shortly after 11 a.m., our School Resource Officer reported that two students were stabbed during an altercation in the gymnasium.  We went into a Code Red lockdown while law enforcement and school security quickly secured the scene and provided first-aid to the victims. Both victims were transported to the hospital. One of the students passed away. The second victim remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries,” according to the school’s principal.

It continued, “Our hearts go out to the victim’s loved ones. Please keep them and all of those that have been impacted by this loss in your thoughts. While student privacy laws prevent me from sharing specific information about the victim, please know that the student who passed away was a valued member of our school community, and we grieve this loss alongside his loved ones.”

According to the Raleigh Police Department, police officers have secured a custody order for a 14-year-old suspect, who has been charged with murder as a juvenile as a result of the deadly altercation.

More from WRAL:

Cherelle McLaughlin is the mother of one of the students involved in the fight. She told WRAL News her son was acting in self-defense and claimed he was concerned for his safety at the school.

“I don’t believe he took the knife into school,” McLaughlin said. “I believe he got the knife from somebody in the school because he did not go to school with a knife. I dropped him off at school, he did not go to school with it.”

Her son is seen wearing a red hoodie at the beginning of a video capturing the fight. WRAL News made numerous attempts to reach the victim’s family, but could not reach them.

Patterson said detectives are working to identify everyone involved in the altercation, and that it’s an ongoing investigation.

Pro-Palestinian protesters just disrupted a Christmas tree lighting celebration in Ypsilanti, Michigan. via BGontheScene

This is the modern day left. Radical, Anti-Christian, Anti-American bullies and thugs.

Godless thugs plotted to shut down the Ypsilanti, Michigan Christmas Tree Lighting on Sunday night.

The protest was organized by radical anti-Israel leftists who are demanding a ceasefire resolution by the community leaders.

The group includes gays, antifa, socialists, and pro-Palestinian groups. These gays are not the sharpest tools in the shed.

The radical, godless leftists ruined the night for Michigan families who wanted a night of Christmas carols and a tree lighting.

Instead, the radical anti-Israel bullies chanted, “America is a terrorist state.”

The Christmas crowd was forced to move over to the Freighthouse, away from the godless protesters who were there to ruin the evening for eveyone.

The godless left wants to eliminate Christmas.

The families were forced to move.

Then they ruined the after party.

Ukraine Opts For More “Cowbell” As Desperation Sets In

Powerline Crippled in Odessa

The last week of November is setting up to be a pivotal week in Ukraine’s futile effort to fend off the Russian military. Russia is clobbering Kiev and other parts of western Ukraine with drone hordes that are wreaking havoc on military depots and electric power nodes. In Kiev, the rift between President Zelensky and General Zaluzhny is widening, with rumors swirling that Zelensky will order a full mobilization of Ukraine that will draft 17 to 70 year old civilians, including women.

To make matters worse General Winter has arrived in full force, lashing Ukraine (and Russia) with winds of more than 90 mph and mountains of snow.

There is a snowstorm in Ukraine , the pipes of a boiler house and a power line support in the Odessa region are broken, the roads are covered with snow, and Kiev is covered with snow by night. 400 settlements in Ukraine are without electricity.

In the evening, half a million people were left without electricity in Crimea ; repair crews began eliminating the consequences. On Tarkhankut , and on the west coast in general, there were floods, storms, coastal roads were flooded, hundreds of people were promptly evacuated, in Yevpatoria the Ministry of Emergency Situations rescued people from the roofs of houses in difficult weather conditions. A day off has been declared on the peninsula and in the Kherson region ; civilians are asked to stay at home. In the Zaporozhye region, the center of Berdyansk was flooded.

Despite the inclement weather, Russian soldiers are advancing steadily in Avdeevka and forcing the retreat and surrender of hundreds of Ukrainian troops from an area they have held since 2014. There is a graphic, disturbing video on Odysee (I can’t figure out how to embed it here) that shows elements of the AFU 47th Brigade bugging out of their trenches while being shelled and shot by Russian forces.

Ukraine’s reported plan to draft as many as 20,000 prospective candidates for cannon fodder is being condemned by members of Zelensky’s party, who believe this is a meaningless gesture that will not advance Ukraine’s military fortunes. Mariana Bezuglaya, the deputy head of the Ukrainian parliament’s security, defense and intelligence committee, stated:

The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has been unable to provide a [strategic] plan for 2024,” Bezuglaya wrote in a post on her Facebook page, referring to Ukraine’s top military commander, General Valery Zaluzhny. The general has absolutely no concept of further conflict, she claimed, adding that he has no plan for any type of warfare, “either large or small… asymmetrical or symmetrical.”

Zelensky’s efforts to hide the staggering losses of Ukrainian troops took a major hit when Ukrainian TV Channel 1+1 reported that the AFU’s casualties so far were 1,126,652 KIAs and MIAs. Andrei Martyanov noted that Zelensky’s office moved quickly to force Channel 1+1 to retract the story, but the damage was done. The horse left the barn. Closing the barn door does not put the horse back in its stall.

A draft will not solve Ukraine’s manpower deficit. Let’s assume the Zelensky crew decide to go ahead with this plan; where are these new “recruits” going to be trained? Rudimentary basic training to teach these newbies how to march, how to shoot and how to take care of personal sanitary needs in the field should take a minimum of three months. Ukraine does not have secure facilities/bases in country where it can start a training cycle for 20,000 every month. Russia has those coordinates and can blast them with missiles.

Even if basic training is completed, the new soldiers are not qualified to operate the armored vehicles, mortars, artillery and tanks they would need on the frontlines. And there is one big assumption here — the United States and NATO will continue to flood Ukraine with a billion dollars worth of gear. That ain’t going to happen. Public support in the United States and Europe to continue pouring good money after bad in Ukraine is flagging and the trend line points to growing opposition.

If the winter weather now battering Ukraine continues through December and January, the situation for Ukrainian troops hunkered down in trenches and bunkers will become desperate because the snow and cold will make it very difficult to keep them properly supplied with food and ammunition. There also is the question of whether Western supplied gear can function or be maintained with the icy fingers of General Winter squeezing the Ukrainian throat. It is looking like a very dark winter for Ukraine.

2A Win: Judge Blocks Voter-Approved Gun Control Law Called ‘Most Extreme’ in Nation

An Oregon judge has put on hold a gun control law Oregon voters barely approved in a 2022 referendum.

The law, known as Measure 114, passed with 50.65 percent of the vote and only won majorities in six of Oregon’s 36 counties. The law mandates a permit to buy any kind of gun, bans any magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition, and was labeled “the nation’s most extreme gun control Initiative” by the National Rifle Association, according to Fox News.

“This Thanksgiving, we can be thankful for Article I, section 27 and its continued protection of our right to bear arms,” attorney Tony Aiello Jr., who represented two gun owners, said.

A central point in dispute was whether the concept of semi-automatic and automatic weapons was such a break with the past that Oregon’s state constitution did not apply.

“The idea that Oregon’s pioneers intended to freeze the firearm technology accessible by Oregonians to antiques is ridiculous on its face,” Aiello said.

Oregon Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum said the state will appeal.

“The Harney County judge’s ruling is wrong. Worse, it needlessly puts Oregonians’ lives at risk,” she said.

The law was met with legal challenges after passage and has never been enforced, according to the Associated Press. Although a federal trial ended up with a ruling that the law passed federal Constitutional muster, to take effect it must be shown to comply with the state and federal constitutions.

In his ruling, Circuit Court Judge Robert Raschio said a citizen’s right to self-defense would be unduly burdened by the law, noting that when Oregon passed its constitution, it wanted to give settlers as much technological protection through weapons as possible.

“The court finds the (voters) of 1857 did not seek to restrain access to the best firearms with the highest functionality possible they could procure,” he wrote.

He said that limiting magazine capacity “does not enhance public safety.”

“The court finds that the large capacity magazine ban effectively bans all firearm magazines fixed or attached which is unconstitutional under any application of said law,” he wrote.

Raschio rejected claims that a magazine limit promoted safety.

“The court finds that 10-round magazine bans are no panacea to prevent a mass shooter,” he wrote.

“People tend to believe these events are prolific and happening all the time with massive levels of death and injury. The court finds this belief, though sensationalized by the media, is not validated by the evidence,” he wrote.

The decision is likely “the first opening salvo of multiple rounds of litigation,” said Norman Williams, a constitutional law professor at Willamette University, told the AP.

“The U.S. Constitution sets a floor, not a ceiling, for rights, so state constitutions can be more rights-protective than the federal constitution,” Williams noted.

Explaining The Failure To Properly Assess Russia

Kudos to Andrei Martyanov for highlighting an article I missed — Bad history makes for bad policy on Ukraine — by Robert English. Andrei correctly takes English to task for butchering the statistics regarding the Battle of Kursk. I want to take a deeper dive into Mr. English’s article because he embraces a number of false assumptions about Russia but still manages to come to the correct conclusion about the failure of U.S. and NATO planners to understand the cause of the Ukrainian debacle, which is:

. . . a broader analytical failing that has yet to be acknowledged: flawed and often facile historical analogies led defense planners to underestimate Russia’s resilience.

Okay. There is the benchmark — i.e., Identify the “flawed and often facile historical analogies” that produced the delusional analysis and predictions pumped out by a raft of “military experts” during the last 20 months. But English immediately displays his own ignorance with this passage:

One example is Russia’s acceptance of mass casualties and use of “human wave” attacks where they lose three or more soldiers for every Ukrainian casualty. Time and again — right up to the present — commanders and commentators cite this as a sign of severe Russian weakness.

Okay. Time for a reality check. Russia has not suffered mass casualties and has not used “human wave” attacks. Seems that the Russian General Staff are not a bunch of cretins. They entered Ukraine with an estimated 70,000 to 100,000 soldiers and attacked a Ukrainian Army that consisted of 196,000 soldiers and an active reserve of 900,000, according to the Business Insider. English could argue that the Russians were guilty of hubris, but I think that move reflected their confidence in being able to deal effectively with a force two to three times larger. There is no evidence that Russia conducted any human wave attacks during 2022 or 2023 and certainly did not suffer mass casualties. Just the opposite. The Russian General staff conducted operations specifically designed to minimize Russian casualties.

Russia has done two basic things to pulverize Ukrainian forces. First, it used its decisive advantage in missiles and artillery to pound Ukrainian trenches, bases and supply depots. Second, it used drones in an unprecedented fashion (and with increasing sophistication) to conduct “drone wave” attacks on Ukrainian soldiers hunkered down in bunkers.

How do we know that Russia avoided mass casualties? Very simple. The social media platforms in Russia do not show massive new graves nor are there posting by grieving relatives about the loss of Sasha or Vitaly.

Robert English, to his credit, takes a well deserved shot at General Mark Milley and other poseurs, such as the disgraced David Petraeus, for saying incredibly stupid things:

On the eve of Ukraine’s counteroffensive, U.S. Joint Chiefs chairman General Mark Milley declared that Russians “lack leadership, they lack will, their morale is poor, and their discipline is eroding.”. . .

Former CIA Director General David Petraeus predicted that Russian resolve could “crumble” in response to Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow. Such strikes “bring the war to the Russian people” and might convince Putin’s regime that, like the USSR’s Cold War quagmire in Afghanistan, Russia’s current war in Ukraine is “ultimately unsustainable.”

While correctly skewering Milley and Petraeus, English misses the elephant in the room. Russian leaders, not just Putin, viewed the West’s efforts to bring Ukraine into NATO as an existential threat. Putin made that point quite clear to the West starting in 2008. Not only did the United States and the United Kingdom ignore those warnings, they upped the ante by helping fund and organize the Maidan coup in February 2014 and backed the new Ukrainian leaders as they attacked the Donbas.

English also correctly notes that bombing campaigns of civilian targets is counterproductive):

As for “bringing war to the Russian people” by bombing Moscow, when did that ever work? NATO brought the Kosovo War to the Serbian people in 1999 by bombing Belgrade, and it only rallied them to the side of dictator Slobodan MiloÅ¡ević; 25 years later, Serbs remain strongly pro-Russian and anti-NATO. And when Chechen rebels bombed Moscow and other Russian cities in the early 2000s, it only rallied Russians around Putin and helped justify his increasingly authoritarian rule.

These aren’t mere historical quibbles, but illustrations of flawed analogies that framed both strategic expectations and tactical decisions. And they have cost dearly, in both Ukrainian lives and now Western support. Confidence in Washington-Brussels elites falls even as officials still claim that Ukraine is winning and Putin “cannot outlast” the West.

To quote Homer Simpson, “Duh!” Moreover, it appears that the Russian Generals and Putin grasped the concept that killing civilians is a foolish, unproductive tactic. I think that explains why Russia has been very cautious in its use of aerial bombs and missile strikes. Were it otherwise the Western press would be filled with stories of civilian carnage in Ukraine caused by Moscow.

English also is spot on with his observation that the West made a fatal error in underestimating Russia’s military industrial competence:

Many have contrasted America’s innovative private arms producers with Russia’s technology-starved state factories, predicting that Moscow would soon exhaust its munitions. Instead, Russia has consistently belied the “all brawn and no brains” narrative, not only outproducing the West in tanks, artillery and shells but defying sanctions to develop new precision-guided bombsdrones and missiles. Perhaps those discounting Russian ingenuity forgot the Katyusha multiple-rocket launcher, a legendary artillery weapon that both the Germans and Americans copied in WWII.

The unanswered question implicit in English’s observations about Russia outproducing, not just the United States, but NATO as a whole is this — why are Western intelligence analysts so ignorant of Russia’s industrial capability? Early on in the Special Military Operation I was writing pieces about Russia’s rich supply of natural resources and minerals essential for producing bombs, drones, tanks, artillery and missiles. Russia, unlike the United States and Europe, was not dependent on imports to sustain its military industrial capability. It is self-sufficient and has trained workers who can do the job required to manufacture such items.

Robert English fails to pinpoint the real weakness of the West — it has stripped itself of steel and manufacturing plants and shipped those overseas. The United States and Europe do not have the ability, at least in the mid-term, to ramp up production and match the Russians shell-for-shell and tank-for-tank.

The United States is like an aging boxer who decided to fight a rejuvenated contender in a 15 round Heavyweight match, but only trained to last two rounds. That is why Russia is battering the hell out of Ukraine and, by proxy, the United States.

Robert English closes his article with the following nonsense. Apparently he is afraid to tell the chattering elite class in Washington the truth:

So as NATO planners and media pundits take up the “cannon fodder” refrain again with reference to the heavy losses Russians are taking as they advance in the battle for Avdiivka, these planners and pundits would do well to consider a quip famously attributed to Soviet wartime leader Josef Stalin: “Quantity has a quality all its own.”

He still takes refuge in the provably false meme that Russian is suffering heavy losses. Nope. You, Mr. English, are engaged in projection. It is Ukraine that is being bloodied on a horrific scale. It is Ukraine that is sending women, including pregnant women, to fight in trenches. No civilized country possessed of its right mind would entertain such a grotesque measure.

It is true that Russia has “quantity” on its side. But it is not needlessly expending the blood of its 20 year olds. It is using quantities of artillery and drones and aerial bombs (FABS) to demilitarize Ukraine. Russia can and is producing more bombs, rockets, missiles, shells, tanks, drone and aircraft than the West combined. That’s the message Washington needs to hear.

Lloyd Austin And Richard Haass Refuse to Admit Ukraine’s Defeat

Joe Scarborough and Richard Haass

I realize this is a bit of old news, but recent comments by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Richard Haass, long-term diplomat and former head of the Council on Foreign Relations, bear revisiting. Their remarks on the dire situation in Ukraine reflects a combination of delusion and magical thinking. They are not lying in the sense that they know they are saying something that is deliberately false. I think they genuinely believe what they are saying. The only way they will come to their senses is when Russia forces Ukraine to surrender. But when that happens, these guys will simply double-down on their conviction that Putin is an imperialist keen on conquering Europe and maybe the world.

Let’s start with Austin’s press conference earlier this week:

Q: Mr. Secretary, German Minister Boris Pistorius said that XX will be a game changer in Ukraine. Some are afraid of even F-16s won’t be a game changer. Given these statements, and what, in what in your opinion, can be a game changer or advantage in Ukraine?

SEC. AUSTIN: Well, that’s a great question. And you heard me say, you’ve heard us say a number of times that there is no silver bullet in a conflict like this. It really depends on providing the right capabilities and also integrating those capabilities in meaningful ways so that you can create the right effects on the battlefield.

And so whether it’s F-16s, whether it’s HIMARS, whether it’s something else, it’s the way that you go about utilizing those capabilities and integrating it, synchronizing the capabilities to produce the right effects on the battlefield.

Austin’s admission that there is no “game changing silver bullet” is not a concession that the U.S. is going to stop sending weapons to Ukraine. He leans on the psycho-babble that what Ukraine needs are the “right capabilities.” That statement demonstrates, in my view, that he does not have a damn clue about how Russia is fighting the war in Ukraine and how weak and incapable Ukraine now is to continue the battle.

Without trained soldiers operating under the command of experienced leaders, Ukraine lacks the knowledge and skill to employ effectively U.S. and NATO supplied weapons. In fact, even if Ukraine had capable troops and had ample supplies of those weapon systems, they lack the military power to defeat Russia on the battlefield. Austin demonstrates his abject ignorance about the respective military capabilities of Ukraine and Russia in this next response to a question about Ukraine’s failed counter offensive:

SEC. AUSTIN: Well, let’s take stock of what the Ukrainians have actually done.

They’ve take back half the prog- — half the — the ground that the Russians originally occupied. I think that’s a pretty big deal.

I think if you look at what they’ve accomplished here at the — with the Black Sea Fleet, they have inflicted significant pain on the — on that fleet and actually caused them to reposition a bit.

If you look at the damage that they’ve created the Russians land forces overall, it’s significant, and it will take Russia quite a while to recover from that in order to create the kind of force that it had before this began.

So, we have to give credit where credit is due. I mean, we said it was going to be a tough fight. It’s a grinding fight, and I think we’ll continue to see that in the future.

Now, what’s important, as you’ve pointed out in your earlier part of the question, is that they learned from, you know, operations in the past and that they’d make the right adjustments, and that they anticipate that the enemy will also adjust as they are adjusting.

Lord have mercy!!! Austin is either stupid or lying (or perhaps both). He knows beyond any doubt that the Russian withdrawal from those portions of Ukraine it initially occupied was because the United States sabotaged a peace agreement between Kiev and Moscow and that Russia invaded Ukraine with a force three times smaller than Ukraine’s. He refuses to admit that Putin quickly corrected that mistake a mobilized more than 300,000 soldiers (mostly reservists). Austin is lying when he claims Russian land forces have been significantly harms. Zero evidence for that. Zilch!

Austin pretends that the United States has an unlimited supply of M777 howitzers, artillery shells, HIMARS and Patriot air defense systems. It does not. And he adamantly refuses to acknowledge the catastrophic casualties Ukraine incurred during its failed counter-offensive. As Sonny and Cher sang, “the beat goes on.” The Russians continue to pulverize Ukrainian forces and General Winter has arrived in force.

Richard Haass is a more intelligent, experienced man than Austin. He does have moments of lucidity and admits that Ukraine has no chance of taking Crimea or the Donbass from Russia:

RICHARD HAASS: The White House is managing two wars, but in both of them, I would say we’re increasingly at odds with our allies and partners. We just talked the previous hour about differences with Israel about how the war is being fought and about what comes after. In Ukraine, I think we’ve got a real problem where there’s simply an enormous gap between what the goals are of the policy and what the realities are. The idea that Ukraine is going to militarily liberate all the land that Russia occupies, approximately 20% of their territory, it’s laudable. I support it. It’s just not going to happen.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: And, Richard, the White House, I mean, the Pentagon a year ago, in February, was saying pretty much the same thing. I mean, we heard about a spring offensive. They were very, very concerned in February, in February of this year, that these lines were going to be frozen in place, much like world war lines throughout Europe. The question is, with wars on two fronts, how long do we, how long do our allies in Europe, who have all done, I think, together, NATO has done an extraordinary job, how much longer do we continue pushing I think, what many people in the Pentagon would think is the unrealistic goal of Ukraine driving every last Russian out of their country?

RICHARD HAASS: That’s exactly the right question, Joe. What concerns me is when people get disillusioned and increasingly come to the — where you and I are, that as desirable as it is, it’s simply not feasible. They’re going to increasingly say, and we’re hearing it in the House, we’re hearing it in parts of Europe, why should we keep doing this? We’re alrady stressed. We’re trying to support Israel. We’re worried about Taiwan. Even if we give everything we need to give or want to give to Ukraine, it still won’t lead to success.

What I argue, therefore, is the United States needs to have some very direct conversations with Ukraine, with President Zelensky. Talk about reducing their emphasis on liberating land and put emphasis onto holding what they’ve got. In the long run, diplomatically through sanctions, yes, we can try to see the rest of their territory returned.

For right now, let’s have 80% of this country saved, 80% of this country rebuilt. I would actually propose a cease-fire as an interim arrangement to expose the Russians for what they are, so we can rebuild support for Ukraine in this country.

When I heard Haass say that we need to persuade Zelensky to hold on to “what they’ve got”, I figured he must have consulted with Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons in coming up with his plan to save Ukraine:

All joking aside, what Haass proposes is utter nonsense. Haass’s plan assumes that Ukraine has sufficient military forces to keep the Russians from taking Ukraine and that Putin is growing weary of the war and is looking for a way out. Wrong on both points. While Ukraine is struggling to keep its soldiers in the field supplied with ammunition, equipment and food, Russia is employing its built up reserves all along the line of conflict.

Russia is showing no indication of hunkering down in winter quarters and waiting for warmer weather. Worth recalling one bit of history. In December of 1944, as the U.S. fought to survive the Battle of the Bulge, the Soviets launched the Dnieper–Carpathian offensive, which destroyed a German Army and resulted in securing territory west of Kiev. I am not suggesting that Russia will pursue the same strategy. I am simply noting that the Russians have a history and military doctrine of being able to fight in winter, particularly when they have the enemy on the run. Only now, instead of relying solely on troops and armor, Russia has ample supplies of suicide drones, artillery and missiles. They have the means to continue attacking Ukrainian positions. Ukraine does not. Magical thinking does not alter this reality.

THIS IS NOT A CAR BOMB AND IT IS NOT A TERRORIST ATTACK

Car Bomb in Northern Ireland — THIS IS NOT FROM THE U.S. CANADA BORDER!

Warning. This is a Captain Obvious alert. The U.S. mainstream media are a bunch of morons. When news broke today of a car that crashed on the U.S. side of the Canadian border and burst into flames, all of the cable news shows were hitting the terrorism klaxon horn. When I saw the video I knew right away this was not terrorism. What sort of knucklehead terrorist launches an attack while headed to Canada?

Anyway, here’s the video of the car going full Evel Kneivel. Before seeing the video I thought the vehicle could have been a Tesla. Nope. You can see the grill on the front of the car and, as it goes airborne, you can see spray from the ruptured gas tank. All nice and aerosolized so that the car would burst into flames, as it did, when it hit another object as the car returned to earth. Gasoline and hot engines have a very combustible relationship.

Subsequent news reports claim the vehicle was stolen from a nearby casino. If that is true that explains why the two cretins in this car decide to speed up, evade capture and find refuge in Canada. Their plan for escape did not work out. Fortunately, they didn’t kill anyone but themselves. Burnt to a crisp.

Here is a view of the fiery landing.

If that had been a car packed with explosives the small white building in the upper righthand corner of the previous video would not still be standing. You also do not see the blast wave or hundreds of pieces of shrapnel. Here is Fox News embarrassing itself, though it was not alone in overreacting to the “news.”

Want to see a real car bomb. The following was filmed in the Sinai.

That is a car bomb. Questions?

Zelensky Cranks His ‘PR Counteroffensive’ Into Overdrive, Calls for the Killing of Putin, Says That Being Targeted for Assassination Is ‘Just Like Covid’

After the unmitigated disaster of the Summer Counteroffensive in the ground, and against the background of his covert struggle against Commander in Chief Valery Zaluzhny, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky has launched a ‘PR counteroffensive’ of sorts.

The wartime leader is trying to put up a brave face, convince the world’s public opinion that he is control of things, and guarantee a continuation of the military and humanitarian support for his country.

In a new interview, Zelensky has ‘shrugged off’ what he called ‘repeated Russian attempts to assassinate him’, and assured the world that the will of Ukraine to defeat Vladimir Putin’s Russia remained strong. ‘We are ready to stand further’.

New York Post reported:

“Speaking at his fortress Kyiv headquarters, Zelensky admitted he had lost track of all the attempts to kill him since Russia unleashed a full-scale invasion on Feb. 24 last year. He said: “The first one is very interesting, when it is the first time, and after that it is just like COVID.

‘First of all, people don’t know what to do with it and it’s looking very scary. “And then after that, it is just intelligence just sharing with you detail that one more group came to Ukraine to [attempt] this’.

But when British and US officials offered to spirit the president out of the capital — amid fears it could fall within hours — he replied with the legendary line: ‘I need ammo, not a ride’.

Almost two years later, Zelensky said Russia still ‘wants very much’ to topple him from power.

[…] ‘Maybe it’s not by killing. I mean it’s changing. They will use any instruments they have’.”

Once again, Zelensky denied what General Zaluzhny wrote, and what the whole world knows: the the Ukrainian offensive bogged down in a stalemate. He said: ‘In the morale, there is no stalemate’ – whatever that means.

“We are at our home. Russians are on our land. Therefore there is no stalemate in this. As regards the sky, there is no stalemate. Russians have more power in that. And really, how to move forward when you can’t control the sky?”

Ukrainians were weary of war, but have no appetite to sue for peace, since they ‘do not believe that Putin nor Russia, we do not believe that they want to finish the war’.

Newsweek reported:

“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that his country has every right to kill his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin if the opportunity arises, if doing so would protect Ukraine and his people.

‘That’s war, and Ukraine has all the rights to defend our land’, the Ukrainian leader said when asked if Kyiv would take a chance to assassinate Putin if such an opportunity arose.”

The Kremlin downplayed Zelensky statements in their response.

“‘There have been verbal attempts on Putin’s life many times from Ukraine. At various levels. We are well aware of this. And they will not succeed in anything’, Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

‘We have no doubt that all the goals and objectives of the special military operation will be achieved’, Peskov said.”

Ex-Maryland Democrat Mayor Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison from 150-Year Plea Deal for Child Porn Case Involving Over 500 Victims — May be Eligible for Parole After 7.5 Years

The former Democrat Mayor of College Park, Maryland, Patrick Wojahn, has been handed a 30-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to charges related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

Earlier this year, The Gateway Pundit reported that the Prince George’s County police department arrested Wojahn soon after they discovered he was operating a social media account distributing pornography.

“The City of College Park was made aware this morning of former Mayor Patrick Wojahn’s arrest by Prince George’s County Police and the charges that have been filed. We are shocked and disturbed by the news; what has come to light in this investigation is a total surprise to us,” according to the press release.

Before his arrest, Wojahn, who served as mayor from 2015-2023, had friendships with high-profile Democrats such as Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

The Washington Blade in 2019 reported, “Pete Buttigieg has mentored Patrick Wojahn over the years.”

Local College Park news outlet the Diamond Back would go further and reported Patrick Wojahn received important advice from Buttigieg and the two even went out for beers once in Riverdale, Maryland.

Along with Lady Gaga and the Dalai Lama, Wojahn also took a picture with Nancy Pelosi:

Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD) wrote in a press release, “On February 17, 2023, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children notified the PGPD that a social media account operating in the county possessed and distributed suspected child pornography. The image and videos had been uploaded to the social media account in January of 2023. Through various investigative techniques, PGPD investigators discovered the social media account belonged to Wojahn.”

It continued, “On February 28, 2023, PGPD detectives served a search warrant at Wojahn’s College Park home. Investigators recovered multiple cell phones, a storage device, a tablet and a computer. Following additional investigation, PGPD obtained criminal charges against Wojahn and investigators took him into custody early this morning.”

Wojahn filed for his resignation following his arrest, stating, “While this investigation does not involve any official city business of any kind, it is in the best interests of our community that I step aside and not serve as a distraction. I have great trust in the ability of Mayor Pro Tem Mitchell, the City Council, and our staff to carry forward what we have accomplished.”

On August 2, Wojahn pleaded guilty to a total of 140 counts, including 60 counts of distribution, 40 counts of possession, and 40 counts of intent to distribute child pornography, WUSA9 reported.

On Monday, a former Maryland mayor, Patrick Wojahn, only received a light sentence of three decades behind bars. The plea deal concluded with Wojahn being sentenced to 150 years, however, the court suspended 120 years, effectively sending Wojahn to prison for only 30 years plus five years’ probation.  He must also register as a sex offender for 25 years, according to The Baltimore Banner.

The news outlet reported:

For almost 1½ hours at the sentencing Monday of former College Park Mayor Patrick Wojahn in Prince George’s County Circuit Court, Assistant State’s Attorneys Monica Meyers and Jess Garth explained how possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material is not a victimless crime.

Law enforcement, prosecutors said, knew the names of 52 children who appeared in images on Wojahn’s cellphone. They experienced sexual abuse all over the world. The United States. Canada. Mexico. Spain. Germany. The United Kingdom.

But there were hundreds, if not thousands more children that investigators could not identify. The total number was so large, prosecutors said, that it surpassed the enrollment of Wojahn’s local elementary school, Hollywood Elementary.

“Even though the victim is separated from the person who is abusing them by a computer screen, they exist,” said Garth, who is chief of the Special Victims and Family Violence Unit in the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, at a news conference. “They’re real people.”

State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy described the sentence as “fair.”

According to Maryland’s parole laws, he could potentially secure an early release after serving a quarter of his sentence, which would be about seven and a half years, according to WTOP News.

More from the news outlet:

During the hearing, Myers read off dozens of statements from victims and their parents that detailed the abuse seen in the photos and videos, some of which depicted very young children, including infants. In some instances, the victims were bound or injured during the abuse.

“People often refer to this as a victimless crime, or they try to justify the actions of the defendant by saying he didn’t touch anyone,” Myers said. “The purpose of introducing all the statements by the victims today was to really convey behind every image he possessed is a story.”

One victim who spoke on video said she was stalked and harassed online for years after the abuse and even had to move.

Myers said more than 500 victims who live around the world were on Wojahn’s phone.
