The last four years have been the longest four decades of our lives, right? Every day, every week, just one disappointment, one screaming outrage after another, watching our government’s standards and norms tossed aside in favor of the whims of a criminal con man.
But here we are at the finish line. Come hell or high water, this chapter will soon be over. So, how are you feeling today as we are in sight of the end? Are you hopeful? Anxious? Scared? All the above?
On Mobilize America, there are hundreds of campaigns and local Democratic parties organizing (mostly virtual) get-out-the-vote activities. Find one near you, and connect with members of your community while doing work to turn out the Democratic vote!
I’m feeling a mix of them all. Here at the Hayden house on Election Day, I’m going to start by heading out to vote. I haven’t voted yet because I live in Missouri, one of the most restrictive states in the country. For dinner, I’m either going to get a soup on the stove at lunch or we’ll be ordering takeout. In the afternoon I’ll be tuning in to a special two-hour live airing of The Brief with Kos and Kerry Eleveld. I might even make a special guest appearance if I’m able to stop heavy breathing into a paper bag long enough.
Sound off below to tell us how you’re feeling and what your plan is for Election Day.
- Do you have a plan to vote?
- Are you cooking something special or ordering takeout?
- Have you called your friends and family to make sure they have a plan to vote?
Just remember, we may not yet know the results of the most important election of our lifetime, but we do know we have a pretty great community here to get each other through the night and the days to come. Thanks for all you do to make this a great community, online and off. Your passion and activism have made a difference. Now we wait to see if it will pay off.
I’m going to add a few updates throughout the day, please share you own thoughts in the comments below.
This hit me right in the feels, Lady Gaga just has such an incredible voice.
