Two US Companies – Apple and Mars Candy Company – Bend Over Backwards to China After Pelosi’s Visit to Taiwan

This past week, two American companies bent over backwards to appease China.  This comes after Speaker Pelosi’s recent visit to Taiwan.

Crooked Nancy Pelosi’s recent visit to Taiwan has caused some US companies to respond to China’s actions.

Pelosi visited the island country in a bizarre act of defiance to China.

China responded to Pelosi’s action and some US companies responded in turn to China.

The famous candy company Mars-Wrigley, maker of chewing gum and candies like M&Ms and Mars bars apologized to China for an advertisement they made claiming that Taiwan was a country. FOX News reported on this:

Mars Wrigley, the company that produces the Snickers candy bar, issued an apology to China on Friday after suggesting that Taiwan is an independent country.

Snickers had promoted a limited edition candy bar with videos and pictures advertising that it was only available in the “countries’ of South Korea, Malaysia, and Taiwan, Reuters reported.

After the post went viral on social media, including on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, the company issued an apology.

Mars said in the apology that it has revised the language in the ad.

Apple also responded to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.  The company is worried that China might slow the production of its iPhones made in Taiwan and China.

With China’s communist government still acting very prickly in the wake of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s recent visit to Taiwan, Apple is urging its suppliers to make sure to label any shipments from Taiwan to China in strict compliance with the Chinese customs regulations regarding how the island is named.

It’s a critical time for Apple, as it prepares to launch the next generation of iPhones this fall, and suppliers are currently assembling various components for the new smartphones.

According to a report by Nikkei Asia, Pelosi’s visit “stoked fears of rising trade barriers,” making Apple nervous about “possible disruptions” if crucial shipments are delayed or even blocked in customs due to a failure to appease China’s labelling demands.

US companies have gotten themselves tied to China and now unfortunately will do whatever it takes to keep profits and that means not upsetting China.
