Sen. Graham Says He Was ‘Stating the Obvious’ When He Predicted Riots in the Streets if Trump is Indicted

Sen. Lindsey Graham is defending his commentary about how there will be “riots in the streets” if former President Donald Trump is indicted, asserting that he was just “stating the obvious.”

The South Carolina senator discussed his remarks during an interview with CNBC’s Steve Sedgwick on Saturday.

“What I tried to do is state the obvious,” Graham said, before providing examples of bias including the investigation into “Russian collusion” and the censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story during the election.

Sen. Graham also pointed out the way that Hillary Clinton was shielded from prosecution.

“At the end of the day, nothing happened to her. So here’s what I said. The raid on President Trump’s home, the likely nominee for 2024, better bear some fruit here. If it’s just about mishandling classified information, we had a standard set when it came to Hillary Clinton,” Graham said.

The senator added that arresting the former president would be “one of the most disruptive events in America.”

“I said if it’s similar to what happened to Clinton and he gets prosecuted, it will be one of the most disruptive events in America,” he said.

Last week, Sen. Graham set the liberal media on fire when he predicted that there will be riots in the streets if Trump is indicted.

“Most Republicans including  me, believe when it comes to Trump, there is no law. It’s all about getting him,” Graham stated. “And I’ll say this, if there is a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling classified information after the Clinton debacle, there will be riots in the streets.”

Sen. Graham reiterated his point again later in the interview, saying that the disparity between what is being done to Trump compared to what was done to Clinton will “literally” prompt “riots in the street.”

“If they tried to prosecute President Trump for mishandling classified information after Hillary Clinton set up a server in her basement there literally will be riots in the street,” Graham said. “I worry about the country.”

Clinton was investigated for having a private server in her home while she served as Secretary of State. She was never charged, despite the FBI finding “evidence of potential” criminal acts.
